One of my favorite parts about being a children’s author is connecting with my readers and listeners.

My school visits are tailored to my audience. I have visited pre-school classes as well as high schools. My pre-school presentations include the reading of my books as well as an interactive program that involves all the children in the audience. For elementary school ages my program focuses on the process of creating and publishing a picture book with emphasis on the fact that simplicity is not often that easy to achieve. I bring everything from beginning manuscripts; preliminary sketches to the unbound first look at the final book. I set the stage for the creation of the student’s own 32 page picture books.

I have also delivered programs for librarians, grandparent readers, aspiring authors and career day presentations. Here viewers have the opportunity to learn first hand about an author’s creative process as well as the business of publishing a book. I will be happy to customize a day to meet your school or library’s needs.

On the Just For Teachers page, handouts are available to accompany my program. You may print these up in advance of my visit to your school or library to accommodate the size of your audience.
